John Hughes 1944
Outside of his home at 30 Towcester Street

John Hughes was a slate quarry worker in North Wales before arriving in Litherland in 1901 where he was married and became a tram driver working out of the Liverpool Corporation Tramways Depot on Linacre Road on the Seaforth to Liverpool route. John Hughes died in 1954 and was the grandfather of Ronnie Breen former teacher at St Wilfred's School who died in March 2006.

Note the 'blackout' blind in the window - also the absence of railings on the wall, which would have been removed during The Great War 1914-1918 or The Second World War for the war effort.
With Thanks to Paul Breen great-grandson of John Hughes
