1933 Flood
Looking up Violet Road from Akenside Street. The flood waters beginning to subside with a gushing manhole visible. The boys are standing at the spot were a cyclist was drowned. The water height at this spot reached a depth of 10 feet. The 'Cinder Path' leading to Wellington Road is on the left near to where the wheelbarrow is. Note also the Match Works on the right of the photograph under the railway arch with Linacre Road visible at the top
